Chipotle's New Apparel Line Uses Avocados as Clothing Dye

Chipotle lovers, we have good news for you: The chain that prides themselves on the responsible sourcing of ingredients has decided to apply that philosophy to the world of fashion. Starting August 4th, you will be able to buy Chipotle brand clothing atChipotleGoods.com. Here's what you need to know about the new release.

Chipotle Goods will have several collections of cute, food-related products you didn't know you needed. Clothes in the Chipotle Goods collections are dyed using upcycled avocado pits from their restaurants. The pits are simmered in water until they release their dye that can range in colors, giving several of the products a unique and earthy hue. Each shirt uses about five avocado pits (or about five orders of guac).

What you may not know is that, as well as being one of the largest purchasers of avocados, Chipotle is one of the biggest supporters of organic cotton. In 2015, they partnered withLoomstateon their uniforms and never looked back. It was estimated that, through their large-scale purchasing of organic cotton, they saved1.7 million pounds of synthetic pesticidesfrom being used in 2019 alone. Their partnership of avocados and organic cotton in this clothing line was meant to be.
